A leading airline has announced the cancellation of flights from the United Kingdom to three sought-after vacation spots. SunExpress, a Turkish airline, attributed the decision to “ongoing geopolitical developments” and the escalating cost of aviation fuel, leading to the temporary suspension of four routes from the UK to Turkey for the summer of 2026.
The affected routes include Manchester to Bodrum, Leeds Bradford to Antalya, and Glasgow to both Dalaman and Antalya. Bookings for flights on these routes have been halted. Despite these cancellations, travelers from the UK still have alternative options to reach Turkey this summer. SunExpress continues to operate routes to Antalya from various UK airports and to Dalaman from select locations.
Regrettably, SunExpress will not offer a UK to Bodrum service this summer due to these changes. A spokesperson for the airline explained to Travel Gossip that the aviation industry is facing significant cost challenges, particularly related to jet fuel prices, prompting the need to enhance fuel efficiency and flight operations. The airline expressed apologies for any inconvenience caused and emphasized their commitment to offering a broad range of flights and routes to Turkey for UK travelers.
SunExpress has not provided a timeline for the resumption of the suspended services and pledged to share updates as soon as more information becomes available. This development follows British Airways’ announcement that flights to Dubai and other Middle East destinations will not resume until at least October, two months later than initially planned.
British Airways had previously announced flight reductions to key Middle East destinations following the Iran conflict, with flights to Dubai, Doha, and Tel Aviv delayed until July. The ongoing Middle East conflicts have now necessitated further adjustments to the flight schedule, pushing the restart of flights to Dubai, Tel Aviv, Bahrain, and Amman to after the summer season, with the anticipated resumption date set for October 25.
