Hundreds of households in Surrey may receive £300 worth of supermarket vouchers for support with living expenses. The initiative is part of the Household Support Fund provided by Surrey County Council to assist vulnerable families. Residents of Surrey can apply for the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher scheme if they are facing difficulties affording basic necessities. The vouchers are redeemable at various supermarkets, including Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose.
To be eligible for the scheme, individuals must be over 18 years old, reside in Surrey, have household savings under £2,000 on average over a 90-day period, and an annual household income below £27,007.50 before taxes and deductions. Applicants are required to disclose their income details and any benefits received by their household. Applications for vouchers open monthly, with the next round available from February 3. If the current application window is missed, individuals can reapply starting March 2.
For those outside Surrey, seeking support from their local council is recommended. For instance, Nottingham City Council is distributing £100 vouchers to low-income individuals. Wakefield Council is providing food vouchers to households on low incomes receiving council tax assistance. Pensioners receiving Council Tax Support were given £70 vouchers in November, with additional vouchers for other households on the way.
Blackpool Council is offering £200 energy assistance to eligible households of one or two people and £300 to qualifying households of three or more people, all experiencing financial hardship. To claim support, applicants must demonstrate financial struggles and provide recent bank statements for all household members.
