Two teenagers have been apprehended and a man is in critical condition at a hospital following an alleged severe attack in the Newcastle city center. According to Northumbria Police, a man in his 50s was cycling on Claremont Road in the city around 5:10 p.m. when two individuals on a moped reportedly approached him. One of them shoved the man off his bicycle, causing him to fall to the ground, resulting in serious head injuries. The victim was rushed to the hospital and remains in a life-threatening state.
Northumbria Police initiated an inquiry, leading to the arrest of two boys, aged 16 and 14, at Walker Park on suspicion of intending to cause grievous bodily harm. The youngsters are currently in custody as the police investigation unfolds. Portions of Claremont Road and Walker Park have been cordoned off to facilitate the investigation, with authorities urging any witnesses to step forward.
