Irish music icons, The Nolans, came together in Manchester to receive the prestigious Lifetime Contribution to the Music Industry Award at the 2026 Pride of Éireann International Awards. The event featured notable personalities from Ireland, such as snooker legend Dennis Taylor and country music artist Nathan Carter.
The Nolans, including Anne, Denise, Maureen, and Coleen, graced the occasion in Manchester to commemorate their remarkable career that has seen them sell over 30 million records globally. The ceremony held at the Manchester Hotel Deansgate was also a heartfelt moment as the sisters paid tribute to their late siblings, Bernie and Linda, who played integral roles in the group’s success.
Anne Nolan emotionally acknowledged their absent sisters, saying, “We’d like to honor two of our sisters who aren’t here with us anymore, Bernie and Linda.” Tragically, cancer has deeply impacted the Nolan family, with Linda succumbing to pneumonia in January last year after a 20-year cancer battle, and Bernie passing away in 2013 when her breast cancer returned.
During the event, Bernie’s daughter, Erin Doneathy, joined the sisters on stage to accept a special award in her mother’s memory. Coleen, a star on Loose Women, expressed gratitude for the recognition of their musical journey, dedicating the award not only to the four present sisters but also to Bernie and Linda.
Denise Nolan shared her pride in their Irish roots, emphasizing the special connection they feel to Ireland. Maureen highlighted the enduring appeal of their music to younger generations, mentioning the admiration of Irish artist CMAT for their influence on her songwriting.
Known for hits like “In the Mood for Dancing,” the Nolans have captivated audiences for six decades, earning the title of “Ireland’s First Family of Music.” Their global chart success as the first girl group from Ireland and the UK has solidified their legacy in the entertainment industry.
