After visiting a popular tourist spot, a man was attacked by a group of transgender women who allegedly stole money from him. Markus Santl, 55, met one of the sex workers in Pattaya, Thailand, and took her back to his hotel. Upon discovering that a significant amount of cash and euros were missing from his safe, Markus suspected the sex worker of the theft. He attempted to confront her near a beach, but was ambushed by a gang of sex workers who demanded his wallet.

During the altercation, the victim called for police assistance as one of the workers tried to snatch his wallet. The group fled when law enforcement arrived. An eyewitness described the incident, stating that the man was outnumbered and physically assaulted before his wallet was kicked away. The bystander retrieved the wallet and returned it to Markus, but was insulted by one of the transgender women.

Firefighters later assisted Markus in retrieving his phone, which had fallen through drain grates. Local residents mentioned that violent encounters involving transgender individuals were not uncommon in the area, particularly around Pattaya’s Beach Road, a well-known spot for street sex workers.

Despite efforts by the police to crack down on such incidents, the prostitutes often scatter when patrols approach, only to regroup later. Authorities expressed frustration at the challenge of addressing the issue effectively. A police spokesperson stated that investigations were ongoing to take legal action against the offenders. Similar incidents involving tourists and transgender individuals have occurred in the city, highlighting ongoing tensions.
