A mother and her two children were found dead in their residence in Great Denham last week, with a post-mortem examination revealing that they succumbed to blunt force trauma.
Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, 42, along with her daughters Natalie, 15, and Nala, aged five, were discovered by the authorities on Monday, July 6, following concerns about their whereabouts after not being seen for several days.
Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, also known as Mark, has been arrested and charged with three counts of murder in connection with the deaths of his wife and daughters. The 45-year-old was apprehended in Kensington, Johannesburg, after fleeing the country two days prior to the discovery of the bodies.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has confirmed the authorization of three murder charges against Tshuma. Bedfordshire Police reported that blunt-force trauma was identified as the cause of death during Tshuma’s court appearance in South Africa, where he is a British citizen of Zimbabwean descent.
Tshuma was remanded in custody after his court appearance at Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court, and efforts are underway to extradite him to the UK, according to Bedfordshire Police.
Detective Inspector Lee Martin, the senior investigating officer, stated that the case had garnered significant media attention and cautioned against speculations circulating in the international reports. With active proceedings and three murder charges approved by the Crown Prosecution Service, detailed information cannot be provided at this stage.
The South African Police Service credited swift operational coordination and intelligence-led policing for tracing and arresting Tshuma.
