A tragic accident on the A59 in Gisburn, Lancashire has claimed the life of a five-year-old girl and left three others severely injured, including a five-year-old boy. The incident occurred last Thursday afternoon when a Skoda Karoq travelling westbound collided with a VW Golf R.

The driver of the Skoda, a woman in her 60s, and the two young passengers, both five years old, sustained serious injuries. Unfortunately, the little girl passed away in the hospital on Tuesday. Lancashire Police is providing support to the grieving family through specially trained officers.

The Skoda driver and the boy passenger are still hospitalized for their injuries, while the VW Golf R driver, a man in his 20s, also remains in the hospital with serious injuries but is assisting as a witness in the investigation.

Sgt Laura Kendall from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit expressed her condolences to the family of the deceased girl and emphasized the ongoing investigation. Speculative comments are discouraged as they can be distressing for the family. Witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage of the collision are urged to come forward and contact the police.
