US doctor Mehmet Oz recently shared that President Donald Trump believes that consuming diet soda can potentially target cancer cells within the body. Dr. Oz, who serves as the Administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, disclosed this information during a conversation with Donald Trump Jr on the Triggered podcast. According to Dr. Oz, President Trump argues that diet soda is beneficial for him as it can eliminate grass, leading him to believe that it may also have a similar effect on cancer cells.

Despite the president’s claims, there is no scientific evidence supporting the notion that diet soda can combat cancer.

This is not the first instance where Trump’s dietary habits have come under scrutiny from close associates. US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior once criticized the president’s eating habits, labeling them as the most “unhinged” within the administration.

Kennedy highlighted Trump’s fondness for fast-food, emphasizing his reliance on items like McDonald’s, candy, and Diet Coke. Kennedy expressed surprise at how the president manages to maintain his health despite consuming what he referred to as “bad food.”

Kennedy noted that Trump’s preference for junk food is mainly observed when he is traveling, as he trusts food from large corporations to be safe. However, Kennedy mentioned that Trump opts for healthier options when at Mar-a-Lago or the White House.

Moreover, in a separate incident, Republican National Committee chair Joe Gruters revealed that Trump had created a custom McDonald’s super-burger during his 2024 campaign, combining items like a Filet-o-Fish, a Quarter Pounder, and a Big Mac.

The consumption of processed foods has been associated with various chronic illnesses such as diabetes and obesity, issues that Trump and Kennedy aim to address through their “Make America Healthy Again” campaign.
