Former President Donald Trump is contemplating headlining a festival commemorating America’s 250th birthday, referring to himself as the “GOAT” and claiming to attract larger audiences than Elvis Presley in his prime. The 79-year-old made this announcement on Truth Social, considering stepping in as the main act for the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington DC after several prominent performers withdrew.
Expressing his thoughts on the matter, Trump mentioned the possibility of featuring himself, whom he dubbed the “Number One Attraction anywhere in the World,” surpassing Elvis in audience size without a guitar. He emphasized his love for the country and the belief held by some that he is the greatest president in history. Trump criticized the departing artists as “Third Rate ‘Artists'” and hinted at delivering a significant speech and hosting an “AMERICA IS BACK” rally in DC, extending the invitation exclusively to “Great Patriots.”
The 16-day festival, scheduled from June 25 to July 10, faced multiple cancellations from artists who felt misled about the event’s political alignment. Organized by Freedom 250, a nonprofit established during the Trump administration, the festival witnessed withdrawals from performers like Young MC, Morris Day, The Commodores, Bret Michaels, and Martina McBride.
In response to the situation, The Commodores announced their decision not to perform, citing their music as their voice and opting not to publicly associate with any specific political party while advocating for the betterment of all Americans. Similarly, McBride expressed disappointment in being misled about the nonpartisan nature of the event, leading to her withdrawal.
