Donald Trump has once again brought the world to the edge of disaster, only to step back and delay the crisis by two weeks.

These recent developments are unlikely to tarnish Donald Trump’s reputation as “TACO” – an acronym for ‘Trump Always Chickens Out’, a nickname that has clung to him since the tariff debacle.

In a surprising turn, Trump backed down on his stance regarding the conflict with Iran, agreeing to a temporary ceasefire that extends the deadline he had set for imminent action. This move came after Iran presented a “10-point plan,” which Trump initially dismissed as inadequate but now sees as a viable basis for negotiation.

Although Iran has agreed to allow passage through the Strait of Hormuz, it comes with the condition that they oversee the process, effectively granting them full control over this crucial aspect of the global economy.

The day unfolded dramatically, with Trump issuing a warning to Iran on Truth Social, sparking criticism and calls for his removal from office. Meanwhile, US forces initiated an attack on Kharg Island, a significant part of Iran’s oil infrastructure.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, urged Trump to agree to a two-week ceasefire to facilitate peace talks and requested Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz during this period as a goodwill gesture.

Trump eventually acquiesced to the ceasefire proposal, citing discussions with Pakistani officials. He emphasized that the ceasefire was contingent upon Iran ensuring the safe passage of oil tankers through the Strait.

Following Trump’s decision, Israel also pledged to adhere to the ceasefire. Iran’s foreign minister declared victory, stating that the US had accepted the framework of their 10-point proposal, suggesting a halt to attacks and the possibility of safe passage through the Strait for the duration of the ceasefire.

This stance implies that Iran would exercise complete control over the vital waterway during the ceasefire period, a privilege they did not possess before the conflict.
