US President Donald Trump has finally spoken out following his country’s elimination from the FIFA World Cup, which is being co-hosted on home turf. However, Trump refrained from commenting directly on the match outcome.
The US team suffered a 4-1 defeat against Belgium in the round of 16 on July 6 in Seattle.
In his statement on Truth Social, Trump highlighted the strength of the United States Military, emphasizing its unparalleled power and historic recruiting achievements. He stressed the need to maintain this strength by allocating funds for defense through Reconciliation 3.0 and the Save America Act.
Although Trump discussed the Save America Act, he did not address the national team’s loss in the World Cup.
Prior to the match, Trump had a conversation with FIFA President Gianni Infantino regarding a red card issued to USMNT’s star player, Folarin Balogun, in a previous game against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The suspension for Balogun, which would have ruled him out of the Belgium match, was postponed following intervention by Trump and Andrew Giuliani.
FIFA later announced the suspension had been lifted, allowing Balogun to participate in the game. Trump expressed gratitude to FIFA for rectifying what he deemed a significant injustice.
