Ben Shephard, known for his friendly persona on ITV’s “The Xtra Factor” since 2004, has unexpectedly become a heartthrob at the age of 50. During a chat with Kate Thornton on the “White Wine Question Time” podcast, he shared that after appearing on the cover of Men’s Health magazine, he received an overwhelmingly positive response.
Acknowledging the sacrifices he made for his impressive physique, Ben mentioned that many of his friends in their age group were facing challenges in various aspects of their lives. He emphasized that as life progresses, individuals often struggle with physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
At the age of 50, Ben set a personal goal to prove to himself that he could achieve the same level of fitness as when he graced the Men’s Health cover in 2012. Reflecting on his past, he shared that life was carefree at 37, but with age, he has faced back issues, knee injuries, and the importance of proper rest.
Proud of his achievement, Ben highlighted that his cover appeared not only in the UK but also in Spanish and German editions, a feat he cherished due to his lack of recognition in those countries. He and Kate were chosen for “The Xtra Factor” for their relatability rather than being perceived as superstars.
Although initially not seen as a heartthrob, Ben now believes he can stand alongside popular figures like David Beckham, Jason Statham, and Stormzy. Despite facing injuries during training, he remains dedicated to pushing his limits and striving for personal improvement on a daily basis.
