Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have purportedly reached an agreement to face off in an anticipated heavyweight match, with key details now disclosed.

Initially, reports in December suggested the long-standing rivalry between the two would be settled in the boxing ring in 2026. However, shortly after his victory over Jake Paul last Christmas, Joshua was involved in a tragic car accident in Nigeria, resulting in the loss of his close friends Sina Ghami and Lateef ‘Latz’ Ayodele.

Following concerns that Joshua may never return to boxing after the near-fatal incident, the former two-time heavyweight champion is now back in light training, hinting at a potential comeback to the ring this summer. There are talks of Joshua facing former foe Dillian Whyte before setting his sights on a bout with Fury.

Boxing journalist Gareth A Davies revealed that both Fury and Joshua have committed to the fight, confirming its signing behind the scenes. The event is expected to be broadcast live on Netflix, possibly taking place later this year or in the following year, with Joshua eyeing a return to action in June or July.

Netflix is set to broadcast Fury’s comeback on April 11, as he prepares to take on Russian fighter Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The streaming platform has become a prominent player in boxing, showcasing high-profile fights such as Paul vs Joshua, Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford, Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano, and Paul vs Mike Tyson.

Joshua is edging closer to resuming full training for a potential return to the ring later this year. Despite the setbacks, including the accident and a planned fight delay, there is still optimism for a showdown between Fury and Joshua, possibly towards the end of the year or early 2027.
