A man from the UK passed away in Fuerteventura following a rescue operation by a helicopter. The incident took place at Playa de La Escalera near El Cotillo in the northern area of the Canary Island. Emergency services responded to a call around 5:30 pm on Thursday about two individuals facing difficulties in the water near the well-known beach in the municipality of La Oliva.
Rescuers from the Canary Islands Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) spotted the man using a helicopter. After being retrieved, it was discovered that he was in cardiac arrest. First aid was administered during transportation to a nearby landing area. The second swimmer managed to get out of the water without help and received medical attention on the beach.
