According to the Met Office, there may be travel disruptions in certain regions due to sleet and icy road conditions. Motorists are advised to exercise extra caution while driving. The Met Office forecasts the potential for up to 8cm (three inches) of snow in localized areas.

Individuals should prepare for longer commute times by road, bus, and train. The national weather agency also warns of the risk of slips and falls on icy surfaces.

The weather alert specifies that rain, sleet, and snow will move southeastward across Scotland on Monday and Monday night, with snow initially accumulating in elevated areas above 200 meters but descending to lower levels later in the day and overnight.

Additional scattered wintry showers are expected from the northwest later in the night and into Tuesday morning. The most significant snow accumulations are projected for Monday evening and night, with varying levels of snowfall based on elevation.

With temperatures dipping below freezing, icy conditions are likely on untreated surfaces, even if the precipitation started as rain or sleet. Isolated lightning strikes are also possible hazards.

Moreover, strong north to northwesterly winds are anticipated across the Northern Isles and northeastern mainland during Monday evening and night, with gusts potentially reaching 50-60 mph in exposed areas.
