A postal worker dressed in an England jersey was captured on video kicking a visually impaired dog so forcefully that the dog had to be euthanized. The incident was recorded by the dog’s owner, Eve Lewis, after the postman delivered a package to her residence in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, last Saturday.

The dog, named Ethel, a shih tzu, was kicked high in the air, described by Eve as resembling a soccer ball, resulting in the dog succumbing to organ failure after being rushed to the veterinarian. The 11-year-old pup, who was partially blind and had only one tooth, posed no threat, as per the owner.

Expressing her dismay, Eve recounted how the postman, after dropping off the parcel, turned back and callously kicked Ethel, launching her into the air and causing her to tumble to the ground. Despite efforts to save the dog, including attempts to stabilize her blood pressure and address internal bleeding, Ethel’s condition deteriorated due to brain damage, leading to the difficult decision to euthanize her.

Eve, a healthcare worker with a young son and another pet dog named Stanley, emphasized her anguish at losing Ethel, affectionately known as Ethel 2.0 due to her resilience after previous surgeries. She emphasized the need to prevent such incidents from happening again, expressing her heartbreak and frustration over the tragic event.

The Royal Mail has launched an investigation into the matter and has pledged to cover the veterinary expenses. A spokesperson from the Royal Mail conveyed their regret over the distressing incident, reaffirming their commitment to animal welfare and employee safety.

Thames Valley Police reported being notified of the animal cruelty incident and property damage at the location on Marston Gate, leading to the unfortunate death of the victim’s dog. While no arrests have been made, ongoing investigations are being conducted to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals involved in the incidents.
