The White House went into lockdown after hearing reports of 20 to 30 gunshots in the vicinity on Saturday night. President Donald Trump was reportedly inside the premises during the incident.

Videos on social media depicted Secret Service agents and snipers positioned on the roof and grounds of the presidential residence around 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Following social media reports of an active shooter at the White House, FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed law enforcement presence at the scene. Patel assured the public that the FBI and Secret Service were responding to shots fired near the White House grounds and would provide updates as available.

Additionally, the Secret Service acknowledged reports of gunfire near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW, one block away from the White House. They stated their efforts to verify the information with personnel on-site.

Although the lockdown has been lifted, investigations into the incident are ongoing.
