Britons are facing more challenging weather conditions as the most recent weather map reveals an approaching wintry chill just days before the upcoming Easter weekend.

Weather forecasts nationwide vary from overcast and rainy to sunny yet cold, reflecting the typical spring temperature fluctuations. Morning temperatures have generally hovered in the mid-to-high single digits before rising to the teens in the afternoon, remaining around seasonal averages.

However, the latest maps indicate a potential sharp drop in temperatures in the upcoming days, with mercury levels possibly plummeting to as low as -6°C, leading to unexpected snowfall during the warmer daylight hours.

The most recent WXCharts data highlights a cold front moving in from the northwest in the following week, with temperatures expected to decrease by nearly 20°C in total.

While temperatures may reach highs of 14°C in the UK today, they are projected to dip into negative figures by tomorrow. The charts illustrate a cold snap gripping the Scottish coastline starting at 6 a.m. on April 1, progressively driving temperatures down to -2°C over the Highlands by that evening.

By midnight on April 2, the cold spell will intensify further, dropping temperatures to -4°C on the west coast and as low as -5°C to -6°C towards the east, eventually encompassing the entire region by noon.

As the severe cold front settles over Scotland, snow is expected to accompany it, with the Scottish Highlands bearing the brunt of the snowfall, predicted to last until approximately 6 p.m. that day and accumulating less than an inch in total.

Looking ahead to the long-range forecast covering April 4 to 13, the weather is anticipated to remain unpredictable throughout the Easter holiday period.

The agency warns of unsettled conditions over the Easter weekend, potentially bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall, especially in the western and northern parts of the country.

Post-Easter, a division between northwest and southeast regions is expected, with the likelihood of unsettled weather prevailing in the northern and western areas. Southern regions may experience drier and clearer intervals, while temperatures are expected to remain close to average, with occasional warmer spells possible in the south.
