A woman creatively avoided a baggage fee at the airport by wearing multiple layers of clothing from her suitcase. Carla Brunella managed to fit into six outfits after being informed that her bag exceeded the size limit for a free personal item.
During her Ryanair flight from Verona, Italy, to Manchester, the 27-year-old was informed by airport staff that she would need to pay a fee for her oversized hand luggage. Instead of paying the £70 charge, Carla decided to layer on clothes to reduce the size of her bag.
Carla, a mental health worker from Spain, expressed amusement at the situation, stating that she anticipated the issue due to shopping in Verona. She shared, “I didn’t want to pay extra. My only choice was to wear everything,” as she refused to incur additional expenses.
Despite paying £43 for her flight, Carla ended up wearing six full outfits by the time she reached the boarding gate. She later removed the excess clothing after passing through security.
Carla’s unconventional tactic garnered attention as a video of her wearing multiple layers went viral, amassing over 455,000 views online. While some commended her resourcefulness, others questioned the practicality of her actions.
