Police have initiated a homicide inquiry following the demise of a woman in a fire at a farm in Rochdale. The body of a woman in her thirties was found inside stables after the fire broke out.
Emergency crews responded to the fire at Higher Tunshill Farm in Milnrow, Rochdale around 12:30 pm on Friday.
Visuals from the location depict fierce flames engulfing the structure, emitting thick black smoke into the air. Portions of the farm are currently cordoned off, and forensic teams are actively investigating the site.
An individual in his forties was taken into custody on suspicion of murder and has been released on bail by law enforcement.
There are indications that the abandoned stables might have been under renovation. Eyewitnesses observed significant flames and dark smoke spreading in the vicinity before multiple emergency teams arrived.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police stated, “On Friday, 3rd July, at approximately 12:30 pm, emergency services were alerted to a fire at Higher Tunshill Farm, Milnrow. Regrettably, responders discovered the woman’s body within the stables on the premises.”
“The male in his forties was apprehended on suspicion of murder and has been granted bail pending further investigation. The scene remains secured, and inquiries are ongoing.”
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service refrained from commenting due to the ongoing police investigation.
