Woman’s Harrowing 12-Hour Ordeal: Abduction, Taser Attack, and Moors Threat

Published on

A woman shared her harrowing experience of suffering from PTSD after being deceived, kidnapped, Tasered, and taken to a desolate moorland during a terrifying 12-hour ordeal.

During the trial, it was revealed that the victim was unlawfully confined in two locations, subjected to a Taser attack, and strip-searched before being transported to the moors with threats of abandonment.

Janzib Rigby, a money lender, and Kimberley Green were sentenced for their involvement in the abduction of a 28-year-old drug user who was enticed into Green’s residence on January 7.

Judge Sarah Johnson condemned Rigby, Green, and three other defendants for their roles in the crime, stating that they each actively contributed to the distressing and degrading experience endured by the victim.

Rigby, aged 30, and Green, aged 43, received jail sentences, while Marshall Atkinson, Cody McGiffen, and an unnamed 17-year-old accomplice were also convicted and sentenced accordingly.

The court heard how Green spotted the woman near her home on Victoria Street in Oldham and lured her inside under false pretenses, setting off a chain of events that led to the victim’s traumatic ordeal.

Following a distress call made by Green, Rigby, accompanied by McGiffen and the minor, arrived at the scene, with Atkinson joining later, marking the beginning of the victim’s detention. The victim faced violent acts, including being Tasered multiple times and subjected to a humiliating strip search.

The victim’s mother contacted the authorities, initiating a negotiation process to locate her daughter. Eventually, the victim was moved to a different location before being taken to Saddleworth Moor, where she was threatened with abandonment.

The victim’s emotional statement described the severe psychological impact of the ordeal, including multiple suicide attempts, complex PTSD, and ongoing mental health struggles.

Rigby was sentenced to eight years for charges including false imprisonment, kidnapping, and robbery, while Green received a five-year prison term. The minor received a youth rehabilitation order, McGiffen was placed on an 18-month community order, and Atkinson’s sentencing was postponed for six months.

The court’s verdict detailed the charges and outcomes for each defendant involved in the kidnapping, false imprisonment, and other related crimes that transpired during the distressing incident.
