The Met Office has advised residents in 15 areas to consider preparing emergency kits as yellow weather warnings have been issued for parts of Wales. Up to 70mm of rain is expected to fall in some regions.

The first yellow rain warning covers areas from Cardiff to Tenby and up to Merthyr Tydfil, lasting from 6am to 11pm. Southwest Wales will experience persistent and heavy rain, with 30 to 40mm expected widely and up to 50 to 70mm in the most affected areas.

The Met Office emphasizes the importance of checking flood risk for properties and preparing flood plans and emergency kits. They recommend having essential items such as torches, batteries, a mobile phone power pack, and other necessities ready in case of power cuts.

A second warning for parts of north-west Wales is in place from 3am to 12pm, with 30 to 40mm of rain expected widely and up to 50 to 60mm in some areas within six hours.

Wednesday’s forecast indicates a wet start with heavy rain in the west, gradually becoming drier and brighter in parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and northern England. Breezy conditions will persist.

Unsettled weather is expected into the weekend, with wind and rain likely. Showers will continue next week with occasional strong winds.

The upcoming week may see a northwest-southeast split, with rain or showers in southern and eastern areas and drier spells in the north and northwest. Temperatures are expected to decrease temporarily before gradually returning to average levels as high pressure influences the weather.
