“You Can See Everything” Sparks Box Office Boom

“You Can See Everything” has become a highly anticipated movie that has captivated audiences without giving away any spoilers. The documentary, focusing on the story of Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of Theranos and a convicted fraudster, drew large crowds to theaters during its opening weekend, generating over $15 million in ticket sales. This marked the second-highest debut for a non-musical documentary in domestic box office history, trailing only behind 2004’s “Fahrenheit 9/11.”

Despite being released in a limited number of theaters in Canada and the U.S., the film received overwhelmingly positive reviews. It initially scored a remarkable 99% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 4.8 on Letterboxd, making it the highest-rated movie on the platform’s record, although these ratings have slightly decreased since then.

Viewers were enthralled by the documentary’s premise, following a film crew, led by directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, as they documented the lives of Elizabeth Holmes, her partner Billy Evans, and their children in the 34 days leading up to her imprisonment for fraud. The theatrical experience of watching “You Can See Everything” was described as visceral, with audiences physically leaning in, gasping, applauding, and laughing throughout the screening.

The dynamic between Fielder and Holmes, characterized by intense and uncomfortable interviews, showcased their unique communication styles. Known for his unconventional approach to truth-seeking, Fielder’s collaboration with Holmes in the documentary was seen as a magical blend of provocation and intrigue.

Distributed by A24, the same company behind recent acclaimed films like “The Invite” and “Tony,” “You Can See Everything” has further solidified A24’s reputation for working with visionary directors. The documentary’s thought-provoking narrative challenges audiences to reevaluate their perceptions of truth, leaving them with lingering questions and discussions long after leaving the theater.

A24’s success in fostering original storytelling has been instrumental in revitalizing interest in cinema and sparking meaningful conversations among moviegoers. “You Can See Everything” stands out as a prime example of a film that prompts viewers to ponder and share their interpretations, adding an element of thrill and communal engagement to the movie-watching experience.
