A primary school in Gloucestershire was forced to close after a volunteer and member of the school community tragically passed away suddenly yesterday.
Waterwells Primary School in Quedgeley had to shut down following an incident that required the assistance of an air ambulance. The Greenshaw Learning Trust has stepped in to provide support to both students and staff members during this challenging period.
Gloucestershire County Council confirmed the closure of Waterwells Primary Academy for the day. However, the council stated that the school and pre-school are anticipated to resume normal operations on Monday, as reported by GloucestershireLive.
Expressing deep sorrow, Greenshaw Learning Trust commented on the passing of the volunteer and member of their school community on Thursday.
The Trust conveyed its condolences and sympathies to the family, friends, and all affected by this unfortunate event. They assured that support is being extended to students, staff, and families, while also urging respect for the family’s privacy during this challenging time.
A spokesperson from the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity informed the BBC that their team responded to an incident in Quedgeley at 4.13pm, providing on-site assistance to a patient.
The spokesperson mentioned that their response involved a helicopter with a critical care doctor, a trainee critical care doctor, and a specialist paramedic on board.
