The body of a teenage boy who went into a lake in Leicestershire on the hottest day of the year has been found.
Authorities were alerted just after 1.30pm to Meynell Lake in Fosse Way yesterday, with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service also responding. Police divers were deployed, and Leicestershire Police has since confirmed the recovery of a person from the water.
The boy’s family has been notified and is receiving support from specialized officers. Leicestershire Police stated that there are no suspicions of foul play, and a report will be prepared for the coroner to determine the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
The police mentioned that the coroner will decide on releasing the victim’s name. In a statement, they said, “Specialized police dive teams have located a person in the water after reports of a teenage boy entering a lake in Syston yesterday afternoon. We can confirm it is the same teenager who entered the lake, and his family is receiving support from specialized officers.”
