“Sir Rod Stewart Reassures Fans After Health Scare”

Sir Rod Stewart has reassured fans about his health concerns after canceling a recent performance abruptly. During a recent show in the United States, Sir Rod was spotted using an oxygen tank on stage, but the fresh air in Lisbon seemed to rejuvenate the iconic musician as he delivered a full uninterrupted performance.

Taking a moment to raise a toast to his well-being, Sir Rod, before his set at Rock in Rio Lisboa, expressed his gratitude: “I’ll drink to health, it’s been a great journey, but there’s more to come,” he mentioned while holding a glass of whisky.

Referencing the ongoing World Cup excitement in Portugal, Sir Rod playfully asked, “Will Portugal win the World Cup? Let’s hope so.” He also paid tribute to his late friend, Tina Turner, stating, “She was a dear friend of mine,” and later showcased Tina’s image on stage before singing their collaborative hit from 1991, “It Takes Two.”

Reflecting on his past performances, Sir Rod shared, “The last time I graced this festival was in 2008, and I must say it’s much improved now.” Despite his health scare, Sir Rod humorously disclosed a near wardrobe malfunction incident on stage in front of his enthusiastic audience.

Expressing his strong stance against the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, Sir Rod dedicated a song, “Rhythm Of My Heart,” to the Ukrainian people and President Zelenskyy to show solidarity amidst the ongoing conflict. The emotional performance featured visuals of Ukrainian citizens affected by the crisis and received a heartening response from the crowd.

Additionally, Sir Rod honored his wife, Penny, a prominent figure on Loose Women and a special police constable, by displaying pictures capturing moments from their relationship while performing “Have I Told You Lately.”

Earlier, doctors had diagnosed Sir Rod with an upper respiratory infection leading to laryngitis, preventing him from singing. However, he was seen supporting Scotland at the World Cup 2026 match against Haiti the next day, despite his health concerns.

Reflecting on his decision to attend the game, Sir Rod admitted, “I probably shouldn’t have gone to the Haiti game. I had to cancel a show due to losing my voice. But I couldn’t let down my sons whom I promised to take to a World Cup since their birth, and this was our chance.”
