A prominent actor from Death in Paradise is leading the race to take over the role of Tosh in Shetland.
Alison portrayed DS Alison “Tosh” McIntosh since the character’s introduction in 2013, based on the renowned crime novels by Ann Cleeves. However, after more than ten years on screen, Alison has decided to depart from Shetland to explore new acting opportunities.
Although the BBC has not officially disclosed the show’s future or the potential replacement for Tosh, bookmakers have shared their insights on possible successors, with Ralf Little emerging as the top contender.
Ralf, known for his role as Detective Neville Parker in Death in Paradise, has been given exclusive odds of 7/1 by Betway. Another contender is Martin Clunes, famous for his role in Doc Martin, with odds of 10/1.
Speculations also include the return of Douglas Henshall, who previously portrayed Jimmy Henshall in Shetland before being succeeded by Ashley Jensen’s Ruth Calder, with odds of 12/1. Mark Bonnar, a former Shetland star, is also in the running with odds of 14/1, alongside Martin Compston at 20/1, James Nesbitt at 25/1, and David Tennant at 33/1.
