Bodybuilding Community Mourns Sudden Death of Brazilian Athlete

A well-known figure in the bodybuilding world, Mailson Araújo, tragically passed away right after returning home from a workout session. The Brazilian athlete, who was gearing up for a significant competition, collapsed at his residence in Alagoinhas on Monday evening.

Upon his return from training, the 35-year-old experienced sudden illness and sought help from his parents. Despite his mother, a nurse, performing CPR and the intervention of emergency services, Mailson could not be revived. With a strong following of over 32,000 fans on Instagram, where he shared glimpses of his fitness journey, Mailson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of his untimely death remains unconfirmed by authorities, prompting an outpouring of condolences from the bodybuilding community. Tributes have been pouring in, with one publication expressing heartfelt sympathy to Mailson’s loved ones and the entire bodybuilding circle.

Having attained professional status in 2023 by clinching the amateur title at the Arnold Classic South America in São Paulo, Mailson achieved notable placements, including third at Musclecontest Brazil 2023 and fifth at Bahia Pro 2023 in his professional debut. He was gearing up for the upcoming Musclecontest Brazil 2026 in Curitiba, marking his return to competition after a lighter schedule.

In addition to his athletic pursuits, Mailson worked as an online sports consultant, sharing valuable insights on training, nutrition, and recovery with his followers. His final Instagram posts became a canvas for friends and fans to express their grief.

Mailson was laid to rest at the Jardim Paraíso da Saudade Cemetery in Alagoinhas, where his legacy in the bodybuilding world will be remembered.
