Fans of the late music icon Bonnie Tyler have been urged to gather along the streets of a quaint Welsh town to pay their final respects on the day of her funeral. The renowned singer, known for hits like “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” passed away at the age of 75, leaving music enthusiasts in mourning.
Bonnie had been hospitalized for over a month after undergoing emergency surgery for a perforated intestine on May 6. Despite being in a medically induced coma following the surgery, she suffered a cardiac arrest and required resuscitation. She eventually woke up from the coma on May 15 but sadly succumbed to complications from her medical ordeal on July 8.
A funeral service is now scheduled to take place in Skewen, Neath Port Talbot, next month, providing an opportunity for fans to bid a final farewell to the iconic singer. William Pressdee Funeralcare, on behalf of Bonnie’s family, announced plans for a “celebration of life” to honor her memory alongside the funeral arrangements.
In a statement, it was revealed that Bonnie’s body will be laid at William Pressdee Funeralcare in Mumbles before being transported to her residence, Fernhill, on August 15. Those wishing to pay their respects are welcome to line Newton Road in Mumbles from 3:15 pm. Additionally, a commemorative event will be held at Swansea Minster (St. Mary’s Church) on August 17, followed by a private family service in Skewen.
The family has suggested that fans donate to two charities that Bonnie passionately supported instead of sending flowers. These charities are the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales and Cerebral Palsy Cymru. The funeral home emphasized that Bonnie’s legacy lives on through her timeless music, solidifying her status as a legend in the industry.
Following Bonnie’s passing, tributes poured in from various personalities, including Welsh actress Catherine Zeta Jones, who shared heartfelt sentiments on social media. The Prince of Wales also expressed his admiration for Bonnie, hailing her as a proud Welsh icon whose music will continue to inspire future generations.
