Chris Rea’s final will and the significant amount he left for his wife have been unveiled. The renowned singer, known for his popular Christmas song “Driving Home For Christmas,” passed away shortly before the festive season after battling various health issues including kidney problems, diabetes, and pancreatic cancer.

According to court documents, Chris bequeathed a substantial £14,435,894 to his wife Joan in his will, which after considering taxes, debts, and expenses, was adjusted to £12,063,178. Additionally, he left a final gift of £12 million for his family and specified his desire for cremation. Any future royalties from his music played on the radio will also be directed to his wife.

Chris and Joan, who were childhood sweethearts, were married for 57 years and had two daughters together, Josephine and Julia. Following his passing, a family statement expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Chris, highlighting his peaceful passing in the presence of loved ones.

Reflecting on his health struggles, Chris candidly shared his medical challenges, recounting surgeries and ongoing treatments for diabetes and kidney issues. Despite his health battles, including a past diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and a stroke in 2016, Chris maintained a positive outlook, humorously mentioning his “very good heart.”
