The Ottawa Rapid have introduced Carmelina Moscato, a former Canadian national team defender, as their new head coach for the upcoming season. Moscato, a distinguished member of the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame, brings a wealth of experience, having participated in three Women’s World Cups and earning a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics. Her coaching background includes stints in Denmark, Mexico, and most recently, Saudi Arabia.

Moscato has signed a two-season contract with the Rapid and will commence her responsibilities this year, focusing on preparations for 2027, including player recruitment. Team CEO Thomas Gilbert expressed confidence in Moscato’s leadership qualities, technical expertise, and profound knowledge of Canadian soccer.

Acknowledging the team’s current success in the Northern Super League, Moscato emphasized her commitment to building upon the foundation already established and creating an environment conducive to player development and competitive performance.
