Budget airline easyJet’s upscale holiday division is thriving, offering luxurious getaways priced at £100,000. The airline has introduced a branch catering to travelers willing to forgo frills during the flight in exchange for splurging on high-end accommodations.
Garry Wilson, the head of easyJet Holidays, shared that the company is receiving numerous bookings for upscale vacations every week. While the average reservation amounts to £3,000, significantly higher than the usual £800 for standard package holidays, the most expensive booking to date totaled £97,000 for a group of 13 individuals.
Launched in October of the previous year, EasyJet Holidays’ Luxury Collection is rapidly expanding, featuring premium five-star vacations tailored for those seeking ultra-luxurious experiences. The collection boasts approximately 100 world-renowned hotels, all boasting a minimum 4.5-star rating on Google and Tripadvisor.
Customers opting for these luxury holidays benefit from perks such as a 26kg luggage allowance, dedicated bag drop, fast-track security, priority boarding, and advanced seat selection, ensuring a seamless airport experience. Additionally, unlike regular easyJet passengers who must arrange their own transportation upon arrival, luxury travelers are provided with premium private transfers from the airline to their chosen hotel.
Despite being established just in 2019, EasyJet Holidays has already garnered a substantial customer base, serving three million travelers annually and capturing a 10% market share. Mr. Wilson expressed the positive reception from customers towards the new luxury arm, emphasizing the excellent value and quality offered by the top-tier hotels.
Recognizing that customers often booked an easyJet flight and hotel separately, the launch of the Luxury division was a strategic move. While currently exclusive to UK customers, the Luxury offering is set to expand to Europe in the upcoming year.
