Robert Jenrick Clashes with Journalist Over Treatment of Women

Published on

Robert Jenrick engaged in a heated exchange with a female journalist, suggesting she should reevaluate her thoughts while being questioned about his treatment of women. The Conservative politician made these remarks during an interview with Kate McCann on Times Radio following his switch to Reform. McCann confronted Jenrick about potentially mispronouncing Kemi Badenoch’s name deliberately to provoke the Conservative leader during a recent speech.

During the interview, Jenrick was accused of being dismissive towards female politicians and journalists at a press conference. He attempted to divert the conversation, dismissing the relevance of the questions posed to him. When McCann highlighted the criticism directed at female figures, including Priti Patel, Liz Truss, and Kemi Badenoch, Jenrick interrupted, dismissing the argument as nonsensical and mentioning other individuals he had referenced in his speech.

McCann further pressed Jenrick on his mispronunciation of Badenoch’s name, pointing out that he had repeatedly used an incorrect pronunciation that irritated the individual in question. Jenrick appeared flustered and responded by implying that McCann’s concerns were trivial compared to the country’s larger issues.

Despite the persistent questioning, Jenrick continued to deny any wrongdoing, claiming no recollection of the events in question. He defended his stance by emphasizing his roles as a husband and father of three daughters, expressing offense at insinuations that he lacked respect for women. Jenrick redirected the focus towards addressing the country’s challenges and the struggles faced by his constituents in Newark.

Following his defection to Reform UK, Jenrick was dismissed by Badenoch for his alleged disloyalty and intention to harm the Conservative party. Reports revealed that Jenrick’s media strategy for joining Reform UK depicted him as a significant figure, referred to as the “new sheriff in town.” Internal documents indicated a planned defection within a short timeframe.

Allegations of plotting and disloyalty surrounded Jenrick’s departure from the Conservative party, leading to his controversial move to Reform UK. The internal planning documents, reportedly discovered by Badenoch, suggested a swift transition to the new political affiliation.
