A serious collision has resulted in the closure of a major motorway in the UK. Emergency services are responding to the incident on the M60, with the clockwise section of the motorway being blocked off.

The closure of the M60 clockwise, spanning between junctions 25 and 26, is due to a severe crash involving two vehicles. National Highways has reported that emergency services and Traffic Officers are currently on-site, working to manage the situation. Commuters should expect delays of up to 40 minutes above the usual travel time.

Reports indicate that there is at least a three-mile build-up of traffic on the M60 as a result of the earlier crash. National Highways has attributed the delays to a “serious collision” involving two cars and confirmed the presence of all necessary emergency services, including Greater Manchester Police and Traffic Officers.

An air ambulance has been sighted at the scene of the crash near Bredbury. National Highways has outlined a diversion route for road users to follow, indicated by hollow diamond symbols on road signs.

According to Greater Manchester Police, one individual has been hospitalized with “serious” injuries following the two-vehicle collision near junctions 25 and 26 in Stockport. The North West Ambulance Service has also attended to another injured party.

In a statement, GMP mentioned responding to the incident at 8:40 am and transporting a man to the hospital due to the severity of his injuries. National Highways provided updates on the situation, emphasizing the closure of the M60 clockwise and the ongoing efforts of emergency services and Traffic Officers at the scene, resulting in significant delays for travelers.
