Wales is expected to bear the brunt of the severe weather conditions as the system strengthens, as indicated by the ECMWF weather model. Cities such as Oxford, Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds, and Cardiff are among those likely to see snowfall by Thursday.

Initial snowfall is projected in areas like Oxford, Canterbury, and Swansea, while northern regions including Dundee, the Yorkshire Dales, and Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland are also expected to receive some snow. Belfast may witness snow as early as Wednesday evening.

By 9 pm, snow is predicted to peak in Wales and parts of the West Midlands, with Powys and Shropshire being the focal points of the heaviest snow accumulations at that time. Data suggests that snow depths in these areas could reach up to eight inches by the early morning, with southern Powys experiencing heavy snow averaging around five inches.

The West Midlands may see up to three and a half inches of snow, while the Yorkshire Dales could accumulate around three inches. Maps indicate that approximately 90% of Wales could be covered in snow.

Most of England and Wales are expected to remain dry by Thursday, especially in Scotland and southeastern areas like London, Essex, and Kent.

The Met Office has warned of a turbulent start to the week with rain and strong winds anticipated in the north. The forecast indicates that Tuesday will bring drier and colder conditions for many before rain returns from the southwest later. Unsettled weather is expected to persist throughout the week, with rain, strong winds, and hill snow likely at times. Further weather warnings may be issued as conditions evolve.
