“Qatar Airways Announces Relief Flights Amid Airspace Closure”

Published on

Qatar Airways has announced a temporary suspension of its flight operations due to the closure of Qatari airspace. However, the airline will be offering limited ‘relief flights’ to assist passengers affected by the situation.

The closure of airspaces across the Middle East was prompted by joint strikes conducted by Israel and the United States on key sites in Iran on February 28. In response, Iran launched retaliatory strikes affecting multiple countries in the region, leading to widespread disruption in flight schedules.

Qatar Airways specified that it will resume its operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority declares the safe reopening of Qatari airspace approved by relevant authorities. The airline plans to provide an update on the situation on Friday, March 6, at 9am Doha time.

To support stranded passengers, Qatar Airways will initiate a limited number of relief flights starting from March 5. These flights are scheduled to operate from Muscat to destinations like London Heathrow, Berlin, Copenhagen, Madrid, Rome, and Amsterdam, as well as from Riyadh to Frankfurt.

Passengers are advised not to proceed to the airport unless officially notified by Qatar Airways about these specific flights. Affected passengers will receive direct communication from the airline regarding their assigned flight details, travel arrangements, and necessary next steps.

Qatar Airways emphasized its commitment to monitoring the situation closely and promised to provide further updates promptly. Passengers were urged to ensure their contact information is up to date to receive flight-related information and instructions, which can be done through the Qatar Airways website or mobile app.

The airline expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the circumstances beyond its control due to the temporary airspace closure and thanked passengers for their patience during this challenging period.
