A man caught by police in Leeds carrying a significant quantity of cocaine in a plastic bag has been sentenced to six years in prison. Anh Hoang was apprehended by West Yorkshire Police during a drug enforcement operation in Gipton. Upon his arrest, Hoang dropped a bag containing two kilogram bricks of cocaine, valued at £200,000.

Investigations revealed that Hoang, a known drug dealer, played a major role in distributing Class A drugs. The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that police found two phones, cash, and drugs in his possession during the arrest. A search of his residence uncovered expensive clothing, cash, drug paraphernalia, and a razor blade.

Hoang admitted to possessing the cocaine with intent to supply, acknowledging his involvement in drug-related activities. Detective Inspector Kevin Daly described him as a repeat offender with a history of drug-related convictions. Hoang had been previously sentenced for drug offenses on multiple occasions.

During the trial, Hoang’s defense lawyer, Kara Frith, characterized him as a street-level dealer who succumbed to the allure of quick money to support himself and his family. Despite expressing regret for his actions, Hoang was sentenced to six years in prison by Judge Kate Rayfield.
