Scots who were stuck in Dubai during attacks by Iranian forces have shared their harrowing experiences of fearing for their safety before being safely evacuated back home.

More than 300 individuals returned to Scotland from Dubai on an Emirates flight on Wednesday evening after enduring a period of distress overseas. One woman, who thought she might not make it, expressed her relief upon reuniting with her family at Edinburgh Airport.

Victoria Cameron, 57, originally from South Africa but currently residing in Larkhall, recounted the terrifying moments when the missile strikes began. She described how the situation escalated quickly, leading to panic and fear among the guests at the hotel.

Her husband, Brian Cameron, 59, was ready to travel to Dubai by any means necessary to be with his wife during the crisis. He emphasized the immense relief he felt upon their safe return.

Jack Crowe, 26, remembered the moment the attacks started and the confusion and shock that followed. Holidaymakers Fiona Shearer, 45, and Lynn Buttercase, 49, also shared their experiences of feeling on edge during the initial assault.

Despite the initial chaos, the situation in Dubai eventually stabilized, providing some sense of calm to the stranded travelers. Kevin MacLean, who managed to stay away from the worst-hit areas, expressed his joy at reuniting with his family after the ordeal.

These individuals’ accounts shed light on the anxiety and uncertainty faced by those caught up in the conflict, highlighting the importance of swift and safe evacuations during such crises.
