Eight children were tragically killed in Louisiana during a shooting incident labeled as a “domestic disturbance” by local authorities. The incident occurred in Shreveport around 6 am on Sunday, with victims ranging from one to 14 years old.

Shreveport police spokesperson Chris Bordelon confirmed that a total of 10 people were shot, and the crime scene spanned three different locations. Some of the children who were shot were found to be related to the suspect, who was later fatally shot by police after a car chase.

Describing the scene as unprecedented, Bordelon expressed the shock felt by law enforcement officials. At a press conference held outside one of the residences where the shootings took place, officials appealed for patience and community support as they worked through multiple crime scenes.

Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith and Mayor Tom Arceneaux both expressed profound sorrow and disbelief at the tragic events, labeling it as one of the worst the city has ever faced. The Shreveport Police have called on Louisiana State Police detectives to handle the investigation.

Fortunately, no officers were injured during the incident, including one officer involved in a pursuit that ended in Bossier City on Sunday morning.
