“Amanda Knox Develops Podcast Investigating Lucy Letby Case”

Published on

Amanda Knox has made contact with former nurse Lucy Letby, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of seven infants in prison. Amanda, acquitted of the killing of her roommate Meredith Kercher in a widely publicized case, has corresponded with Letby in prison and sent her a copy of her book. Expressing interest in meeting or speaking with Letby, Amanda and her husband Chris are developing a podcast focused on Letby’s case.

Describing her investigation into Letby’s case as enlightening, Amanda mentioned traveling from London to Chester for further research and interviews related to the case. Apart from reaching out to Letby, Amanda has also communicated with Letby’s parents.

Aged 38, Amanda stated, “It’s been a very interesting, eye-opening experience to investigate her case. Chris and I are producing a podcast series about the case. It’s called ‘Doubt – the case of Lucy Letby’ and delves deeply into the details of the case.” The podcast is set to span at least 13 episodes, with a focus on the factual aspects of the case rather than Letby herself.

Emphasizing her perspective as a victim of crime prior to her involvement in the legal system, Amanda underscored her commitment to holding the right individuals accountable. She believes her understanding of the criminal justice system could make her a valuable and impartial juror.

Speaking at an event promoting her documentary “Mouth of the Wolf” in South East London, Amanda addressed inquiries from the audience about her connection to Letby. Letby, a former neonatal nurse, received 15 whole-life sentences for the murder of seven infants and attempted murder of seven others at the Countess of Chester Hospital between 2015 and 2016.

Despite calls for a new inquiry and claims of innocence, Letby’s appeals against her convictions were dismissed by the Court of Appeal in May 2024, further fueling controversy around her case. Amanda disclosed her ongoing work on a podcast investigating Letby and encouraged listeners to tune in to “Doubt: The Case of Lucy Letby.”

Reflecting on Letby’s portrayal during and after the trial, Knox expressed unease with the depiction of Letby in the media. She remarked, “When I saw how Letby was being cast as evil by the British press, I felt that uncomfortable shock of recognition.” Amanda highlighted the public outrage and the rush to judgment following Letby’s trial, cautioning against assumptions and emphasizing the importance of seeking truth over scapegoating in high-profile cases.
