Norfolk Police has initiated a manhunt following the reported rape of two teenage girls at a popular beach. The incident occurred on South Beach Parade in Great Yarmouth around 12.30am last Saturday, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

An individual in his 30s was apprehended in Northamptonshire on Sunday under suspicion of rape in connection with the case. He is currently in custody for further interrogation. Authorities are now seeking a second suspect described as a man in his 30s or 40s with short dark hair and facial hair. The individual was reportedly wearing blue jeans and a dark green jacket with white stripes on both sleeves.

The police have issued an appeal for witnesses regarding the incident at Great Yarmouth’s South Beach Parade on May 16, 2026. Following the initial reports, a police cordon was established and subsequently removed after investigations were conducted.

Chief Inspector Nick Paling, the district commander for Great Yarmouth, expressed concern for the victims, their families, and the community, emphasizing the deployment of specialized officers to support the girls during the ongoing investigation. Enhanced police patrols have been implemented in the area to provide reassurance, with citizens encouraged to approach officers with any relevant information or concerns.
