“Actress KayCee Stroh Advocates for Young Actor Support in Industry”

Published on

Actress KayCee Stroh is advocating for better support for young actors in the entertainment industry. Stroh, aged 42, rose to fame in her early twenties for her role as Martha Cox in the highly successful Disney Channel Original Movie, High School Musical. The 2006 film not only propelled Stroh to stardom but also kickstarted the careers of actors like Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Demi Lovato.

Acknowledging the challenges of early fame on young performers, Stroh emphasized the importance of mental health support for young actors. She praised Disney for adhering to regulations to ensure a safe working environment but stressed the need for more mental health resources on set.

Stroh, known for her role in “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” alongside Dylan and Cole Sprouse, highlighted the industry’s tendency to overlook young actors’ well-being. She emphasized the significance of prioritizing mental health and self-worth over career achievements.

In a recent interview, Stroh shared her proactive approach to supporting her younger co-stars by encouraging conversations beyond work projects. She emphasized the need for young actors to focus on personal happiness and well-being rather than external achievements.

While reflecting on her time with High School Musical, Stroh expressed a desire for a reunion event, which did not materialize. However, she found a unique way to celebrate the show by joining the stage revival of High School Musical at the Hope Mill Theatre in the UK. Stroh will portray the character of Ms. Darbus, alongside other talented actors like Jason Donovan and Harry Judd.

Stroh aims to bring her own flair to the character, infusing it with her dance background and physical comedy expertise. She looks forward to adding a touch of her personality to the role while paying homage to the original portrayal.

Fans can catch KayCee Stroh as Ms. Darbus in Disney’s High School Musical at Lowry, Salford, from August 22 to September 19 and at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, London, from October 12 to January 3.
