Former judge of the popular TV show “Strictly Come Dancing,” Arlene Phillips, has expressed her opinions on a potential host for the upcoming season in September.

During a conversation about potential hosts for the renowned BBC dance show on BBC1, Phillips humorously suggested herself, mentioning Angela Scanlon, a red-headed Irish presenter and former Strictly contestant.

Phillips, speaking at the Make-A-Wish UK’s annual ball, complimented Scanlon’s potential but also hinted at finding her occasionally irritating.

Expressing her thoughts on other rumored names for the hosting role such as Rylan, Zoe Ball, and Emma Willis, Phillips suggested exploring fresh talent instead of sticking with familiar faces.

Having been a judge on Strictly from 2004 to 2008, alongside Craig Revel Horwood and Len Goodman, Phillips’ departure from the show back in 2008 caused controversy amid speculation about age-related reasons.

Current reports indicate ongoing auditions to recruit new hosts and professional dancers for the upcoming season following the exits of Tess and Claudia and the removal of beloved pros like Nadia Bychkova and Karen Hauer.

Aside from her television appearances, Phillips made headlines in 2021 for becoming the oldest participant in “I’m a Celebrity” history during her time at Gwrych Castle in Wales.

Reflecting on her jungle experience, Phillips mentioned her bond with fellow contestant Richard Madeley, highlighting his support during their time together.

During her jungle stint, Phillips aimed to overcome her fear of spiders and drew inspiration from a courageous young cancer patient she had mentored.
