During the court proceedings at Newcastle Crown Court, victims shared their impact statements, emphasizing the emotional and physical toll Hall’s actions had on their lives. One victim, who encountered Hall as a 17-year-old, described the devastating impact of discovering his HIV-positive status after their interaction.
The judge delivered a minimum term of 23 years and 42 days to Hall, highlighting his callous behavior and deliberate transmission of HIV to multiple individuals. Despite the severity of the charges, Hall refused to face his victims in court and showed indifference to their suffering.
Victims recounted the emotional turmoil they faced upon learning of their HIV diagnosis, with one victim receiving the news just after celebrating his 16th birthday. The court also heard how Hall’s actions had a lasting impact on the lives of those affected, with many expressing relief at his conviction.
The investigation into Hall’s predatory behavior involved extensive police resources, including 35,000 hours of investigation, statements from 450 individuals, and evidence from 37 witnesses. Blood samples were crucial in establishing the transmission of HIV from Hall to his victims.
In sentencing Hall, the judge condemned his actions as a pattern of behavior that endangered the lives of others. Hall was found guilty of multiple charges, including rape, intentional transmission of HIV, and failure to comply with the investigation.
