The mother of a popular British social media influencer accused of fatally stabbing her partner in Dubai revealed that her daughter was extremely distressed in a phone call just before the tragic incident. Brooke George, a 23-year-old TikToker from Gravesend, Kent, is facing potential execution by firing squad after being charged with the murder of her 26-year-old boyfriend, Bill Treeby. George claims self-defense, citing a history of abuse during their visits to the UAE and asserting that she grabbed a kitchen knife in response to a final assault by Treeby.
In a recent statement, George’s mother, Thereza George, expressed concern over her daughter’s well-being, highlighting a notable change in Brooke’s demeanor leading up to the incident. According to Mrs. George, after returning to Dubai for the second time, the relationship dynamics between Brooke and Treeby had shifted significantly. The night before the tragedy, Brooke appeared subdued and unlike her usual cheerful self, prompting worries about the state of their relationship.
Following the event, Mrs. George recounted a distressing conversation with Brooke, wherein her daughter was visibly terrified and emotionally distraught. She noted physical signs of harm on Brooke, further fueling her concerns for Brooke’s safety and mental state. The mother emphasized her belief that Brooke was desperate to escape the situation and return home.
This development follows the revelation that Treeby had previously been convicted of assault charges in the UK, underscoring concerns raised by Radha Stirling, CEO of legal advocacy group Detained in Dubai. Stirling highlighted suspicions that Brooke may have been manipulated into traveling to Dubai under false pretenses, potentially for exploitation purposes. Allegations of domestic abuse, manipulation, and confiscation of Brooke’s passport have emerged, prompting calls for a thorough investigation by UAE authorities.
In response to the situation, a Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed that they are liaising with the detained British woman, providing support to her family, and engaging with local authorities to address the ongoing matter.
