Well-wishers have generously contributed £12,000 to support the family of a 16-year-old girl described as a ‘beautiful soul taken too soon.’

Chloe Watson tragically lost her life over the weekend due to a back wound, despite the heroic attempts of locals in Kennerleigh Avenue, Crossgates, Leeds, West Yorkshire. Floral tributes now mark the spot where Chloe passed away.

In response to the devastating loss, Chloe’s 22-year-old cousin, Shantelle, initiated a Gofundme campaign that has garnered £11,943. In a heartfelt message, Shantelle expressed her grief, stating, “I’m setting up a GoFundMe for my 16-year-old cousin, whose life was tragically cut short. At only 16 years old, she didn’t even reach her 18th birthday. Her life was taken in an instant over a boy, leaving her distraught mother and two younger siblings behind. I wanted to create a fundraiser to ensure she receives the best possible send-off. She did not deserve this; she was full of life, an innocent soul taken too soon.”

Among the tributes laid at the scene was a poignant message addressed to “my beautiful girl,” bidding Chloe to “Rest easy” and declaring eternal love. A photo of Chloe is affixed to a box beside the growing display of flowers and notes, while forensic investigators continue their work at the location.

One individual left a toy at the site, reminiscing about Chloe playing with their dog in the past. Reflecting on the tragedy, local resident Gillian Brook remarked, “This area is usually quiet. It’s heartbreaking to see a young girl lose her life with so much ahead of her. My granddaughter is the same age. My heart goes out to her family and everyone who knew her. It’s devastating and so sad in such a peaceful neighborhood.”

Detective Chief Superintendent Marc Bowes, the lead investigator, confirmed ongoing inquiries into Chloe’s death and urged anyone present in the Kennerleigh Avenue area early on Saturday morning to come forward with any information relevant to the investigation.
