Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed her frustration with receiving unsolicited beauty advice in a recent Instagram post. Frederiksen, who is 48 years old, shared that after returning from a trip to Ukraine, where she experienced air raid sirens due to the ongoing conflict, she received a message from a plastic surgeon offering to address a perceived flaw on her nose.
She revealed that she has received numerous messages over the years critiquing her appearance, including comments about her teeth, hair, and a supposed ‘wart’ on her nose, along with suggestions for Botox. Frederiksen shared a screenshot of the plastic surgeon’s offer without disclosing his identity and responded by asserting her contentment with her body and rejecting the unsolicited opinion.
As the second female prime minister of Denmark and currently serving her third term, Frederiksen is one of Europe’s most seasoned leaders, having led the country since mid-2019. She has taken a strong stance against U.S. President Donald Trump’s interests in Greenland, a semiautonomous territory of Denmark, and has shown support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
Emphasizing that she does not comment on others’ appearances, Frederiksen underscored her satisfaction with her body, particularly as she approaches 50 years of age. She urged individuals reaching out to her to engage in more meaningful conversations rather than focusing on her physical features.
Frederiksen admitted feeling indignant about the unsolicited beauty advice and extended empathy to those who also face similar pressures to conform to societal beauty standards. She encouraged discussions on more substantial topics and emphasized the acceptance of one’s ‘perfect imperfections’ in everyday life.
