A woman shared her story of winning £142,857 in the Postcode Lottery, six decades after winning her home. Pamela Hiscocks, 79, and her husband Anthony, 82, acquired their three-bedroom bungalow through a competition held by developers who constructed the estate in the 1960s. Their postcode led them to a substantial windfall, valued at 45 times the original purchase price of £3,175.
Pamela, a mother of one from Melksham, Wiltshire, expressed her excitement at the unexpected win, stating, “We’ve been lucky in the past, but this is just amazing. I can’t take it in.” Her husband Anthony added, “It’s not real. I’m flabbergasted and gobsmacked.” The couple shared a £1 million prize with six neighbors after their postcode won the lottery’s weekly Millionaire Street prize.
Recounting their previous wins, Anthony mentioned winning the house through a competition and later winning the football pools with colleagues. They now plan to prioritize their family by using the winnings to support their son, daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren. Additionally, they aim to enhance their granddaughter’s wedding celebration with the newfound financial security.
Lesley Rose, a close friend and neighbor of Pamela, also won £142,857 in the same draw. Lesley, 77, who battled cancer, expressed her joy at the unexpected win, highlighting her plans to renovate her kitchen, enjoy a holiday, and treat her loved ones. Despite her health challenges, Lesley remains grateful for the support of her family and the healthcare professionals who have stood by her during her journey.
