Elon Musk to Address World Economic Forum at Davos

Published on

Elon Musk is scheduled to deliver a speech at the ongoing World Economic Forum in Davos today, as per an announcement. The event will feature a dialogue between Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, Chief Engineer at SpaceX, CTO at xAI, and Laurence D. Fink, the Chair and CEO of BlackRock, who also serves as the Interim Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum.

This appearance comes after a public disagreement between Musk and Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary, sparked by a dispute over the installation of Musk’s Starlink internet on Ryanair aircraft. Musk even conducted a poll on his social media platform X, inquiring whether he should acquire Ryanair and reinstate “Ryan as their rightful ruler.”

The clash between Musk and the budget airline’s CEO revolved around the implementation of Musk’s Starlink satellite internet system on Ryanair planes, with O’Leary previously referring to Musk as “an idiot.” In response to questions about the online dispute and the status of his X platform, O’Leary criticized social media, calling it a “cesspit” and labeling TikTok as “the greatest amount of rubbish.” He advocated for governments to eliminate anonymity on social media platforms due to various scandals involving issues like nude content and child endangerment.

O’Leary specifically urged Europe to take action in removing anonymity from social media and addressing related issues. He disclaimed any direct contact with Musk and mentioned that Ryanair would respond on its X account to Musk’s interactions.

Musk’s appearance at Davos follows a lengthy address by former US President Donald Trump at the World Economic Forum, where Trump made remarks that were perceived as confusing, including mixing up Greenland and Iceland and asserting that European nations referred to him as “Daddy.” Trump emphasized the strategic importance of Greenland for national and international security, stating that the US was uniquely positioned to safeguard the region. Despite expressing a desire for negotiations to acquire Greenland, Trump stated that he would not resort to the use of force in the process.
