The departure of Gladiators star Giant from the show was not of his own choosing, as he revealed in a statement to his fans. The well-known TV figure, also known as Jamie Bigg, aged 40 and hailing from Ilkeston, Derbyshire, shared on social media that he will not be participating in the upcoming series due to reasons conflicting with his personal values.
In his message, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be a Gladiator and emphasized that leaving the show was not a decision he willingly made. Bigg highlighted that staying true to his principles was paramount to him as a role model, reflecting on the pride and appreciation he holds for his journey on the program.
Initially appearing on Gladiators in 2024, the Giant earned his nickname for his towering stature as one of the tallest professional bodybuilders. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches tall, boasting 52cm biceps, and weighing over 20 stone, he disclosed the rigorous dietary regimen required to sustain his muscular physique, consuming approximately 10,000 calories daily.
While excelling in the Duel event on Gladiators, his involvement in the revamped BBC One show hosted by Bradley and Barney Walsh was not without controversy. Despite facing criticism for endorsing anabolic steroids – classified as Class C drugs, he clarified that he had ceased their use in 2022 and no longer endorsed their usage.
Bigg, who had been married to Katie Christian since 2014 and shares two children, announced their divorce in December 2025. Following the separation, he expressed a desire to rediscover his identity, revealing a diagnosis of ADHD in January as a pivotal moment in his personal journey.
